Burns Rally Report

Well what can I say, what a great weekend. We stayed at the site in Copt Oak which also benefited from having a hall to get together in which was a bonus.

First time out this year and it definitely started off as well as it could have.

We arrived Friday and were greeted by GB who was marshalling and instructed us where to park. Was initially concerned as being in a Motorhome obviously I would have preferred hard standing but there was plenty available so there wasn’t any need to worry.

Finally got settled in after realising I had forgot my water barrel and had to go to the tap and fill up which was not a problem as there was plenty of room to manoeuvre.

Friday night we headed over to the hall where we had some games off bingo with a very peculiar caller who seemingly had his own definition of calling. This included mentioning a colour that was required and reading them out as fast as possible and of course it was already harder due to his Scottish accent, let you guess who. Great night with great company.

We personally hit the jackpot after winning 2 lines and a house

Saturday was spent for most getting ready for the Burns night meal which didn’t disappoint at all. The effort put in to make the night special was amazing, the food was great and plenty of it. We were served with Scots Broth, Chicken with Haggis, mash and Swede with gravy, followed by a choice of either cheesecake (made by the lovely LC) and chocolate cake ( made by Costco and in my opinion not a patch on the cheesecake)

We then followed the meal with the raffle and followed by some music which encouraged some singing and some dancing. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Sunday the goodbyes where said and we all headed off in our different directions.

We would like to thank everyone that attended for a lovely weekend and thank everyone who contributed towards it but an extra special thanks to GB and J, our hosts for putting on an amazing weekend for us all to enjoy as well as serving up an excellent meal.
