Darley Moor Motor Cycle Race Club September 26th - 29th

We arrived Thursday and received a warm welcome from MC and W who then showed us where to go. It was raining so lucky for us the ground was level so we were able to reverse in and get the van level both ways the first time. I then sat and had a catchup with W and S while PR went out in the car to fetch ours and other members water. Thursday night was cold and wet so we all relaxed in our own vans. Friday the weather was a lot better and we were able to sit out with the other members and have a chat and a good catch up. The club's tea urn had broken so W made drinks and bacon sandwiches for some of the members using his outdoor kitchen. Friday night we all went into the party tent where we had a few games of cards ( Sticky thirteen ) that SP organised, which was very amusing. Saturday some of the members went into Ashbourne for a few hours, we went to a nearby garden center and others went for a walk upto the race track to watch the cycle racing. Saturday night we all gathered in

Coppice Steam Fair ( fundraising event ) Sept 5th - 8th

This rally is the 4C’s biggest fundraiser for the air ambulance and started on Thursday. We arrived on Friday afternoon and the weather was sunny with a strong breeze. Volunteers from the club spent Thursday and Friday setting up the air ambulance stall with a section for the tombola and selling raffle tickets and a section for selling goods which had been donated. There were also lots of other vendors and catering vans setting up. Friday evening there was a disco in the event's beer tent which was well attended by vendors, exhibitors, volunteers and people staying on the campsite.Friday night it poured down with rain and continued to rain on and off throughout Saturday but spirits were still high. Saturday attendance of the public was slow starting and footfall was lighter than previous years due to the weather. In  the main arena they had a dog show with lots of categories like prettiest bitch, waggiest tail and most wanted to take home. There were also the vintage cars being e

Lyndon Top Rutland water August 1st - 4th

What a lovely weekend at Lyndon Top we arrived on Thursday afternoon and the sun was shining, we had heavy rain Thursday evening, but we woke up to sunshine again on Friday, unfortunately we woke to rain on Saturday but it soon cleared up and the sun shone again until we left Sunday afternoon. We had eleven vans in attendance which for saying this was a last minute replacement for the golden cup was fantastic. Thursday afternoon and evening was free and easy, getting set up and catching up with everyone.  Friday was another free and easy day, we went for a walk around the site which had some stunning views overlooking the lake and then in the evening some of us met up in the party tent for a good chat, lots of laughs and a few games of sticky thirteen.                                                                                                Saturday morning we sheltered in the vans from the rain, then in the afternoon we went to Rutland water for a walk, we treated ourselves to

Shelthill Fishing Rally 2024.

Image
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think around 16 units attended, well what can I say, another fantastic weekend at Shelthill, fantastic food provided by S and JP. Excellently cooked and prepared, variety of toppings on a large jacket potato (ask JW, he filled his boots with the overs) excellent value, worth every penny. Thank you both and your helpers. There was also a village Fete which I know H & PC went to and enjoyed, saying it was busy with a lot of stalls, fun games and music. The Nag’s head was within walking distance, and I believe a few members went over for a meal. Fishing comp was great and although it was only entered by a few members it was fun and in good spirits. But competitive, I have to beat the hubby! In the words of Darth Vader “Now I am the master “I have the trophies to prove it now. The weather was excellent with lots of sunshine allowing interaction in the sun away from the fishing and on an evening. Great company and nattering with plenty of flowing alcohol

A lovely rally run by SR & PR and SP & JP. A great little site with a children's park nearby and some fabulous walks. One along the canal which takes you to a pub ( Halfway House ) at Donisthorpe which has a great beer garden with children's play area. The weather was cloudy with some sunshine apart from some heavy rain during Saturday night. Thursday was a chill out afternoon/evening with members sitting outside together catching up and then later retiring to the clubs party tent, for more catchup time and laughs. Friday we took a walk along the canal to the pub for a pint and a cheese and onion cob. We had a blackout and won happy days lol. Then we all met up in the party tent to socialize together and enjoy a drink and some snacks brought in by a member. Saturday in the morning we went for a walk to the local co-op and post office/off license. It was a fantastic afternoon playing games, Shuffleboard, cornhole, hook ring toss game, quoits and horseshoe throw. The men

HATTON COUNTRY WORLD, May 23 rd to 28 th 2024

Arrived on Thursday to be greeted by marshals J & J and KS to find that on their arrival at Hatton Country World they had been told the rally field was unfortunately so wet that it was not useable. The site offered a small grass area and the bus parking car park as an alternative. The marshals were not fazed and set plan B in action. JW was also marshalling, but due to work couldn’t arrive until later in the day, escaping the issues they had encountered. We did manage to get stuck, with our 4x4 off roader and once we had been rescued by J we were soon pitched. The rally was a mixture of sunshine and showers, but we managed to sit out and socialise every day. The location was lovely and only a short walk from the Hatton Locks on the Grand Union Canal, where there are 21 locks which bring the canal up from Warwick to Hatton. It was a nice 2 mile walk along the canal into Warwick, where we enjoyed a well-earned pint. Hatton Country World hosts a garden centre and a shopping village wh

Fortway Farm Leisure & Fishery, May 2024

Marshall’s S & PR. A fantastic site with clean facilities and a well-stocked fishing lake. Calor gas bottles for exchange on site too at a good price. The weather was gorgeous so the fishing was very enjoyable hence we fished for 12 hours on the Saturday Unfortunately due to this we weren’t very sociable in the group. But everyone seemed to be having a great time doing what they wanted. It was a very friendly group with lots of laughs and warm welcomes. We didn’t venture off site at all. But others did and explored the nearby attractions and walks. S & PR were very helpful and friendly as always. Gained more fishing tips off PR Looking forward to going again next year and hope we can make it a regular event as it’s a lovely well-maintained site. D & DS
